Adopt a Singer: Christina Alexopoulos, Alto 2
This is Christina’s first year with OCWC. “I joined the OCWC because I love singing, and it is something that was missing in my life.” She has been singing since she was three (at least that is the earliest memory she has of herself singing). Currently, Christina is a stay-at-home mom, but she is planning to return to work in the next year. Christina previously served as Director of Business Development at OCTANe, a non-profit in Aliso Viejo whose mission is to help Orange County start-up companies in the technology and medical technology industries to connect people, resources and capital. She also served as an adjunct professor in voice at Chapman University’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music for four years, and at the same time worked in Development for Chapman’s Schmid College of Science and Technology.
Prior to returning to California in 2009, Christina was an opera singer “living the dream” in New York City for ten years. She was classically trained and received a BS and MM in vocal performance from the Mannes School of Music. She has performed in recitals, concerts, operas and chamber groups up and down the east coast, and in California, Europe, Russia and the Baltic States. Christina was a featured soloist in our December program, and closed our Glass of Cabaret fundraising event with a performance of “Habanera” from Bizet’s Carmen.
She is passionate about her family, music, dogs, cats, gardening, cooking and traveling. She has a four-year-old daughter named Sophia, who keeps her on her toes and makes her laugh a lot. If you attended Glass of Cabaret, you met Sophia—the winner of our live auction song dedication! Christina is a big Star Wars nerd and enjoys almost all things Disney. She had her own Big Fat Greek Wedding five years ago and married the love of her life, Manny Smith. She also has two small pups, Bella and Daisy. Please join us in welcoming Christina Alexopoulos to the alto section of the OCWC!
